Sankashti Chaturthi, or Sankatahara Chaturti, is dedicated to Lord Ganesh during the fourth day of the Krishna Paksha (waning phase of moon) in a traditional Hindu month. Sankashti Chaturthi upvaas is considered highly beneficial by Ganesha devotees. Fasting is observed on the Chaturthi falling after full moon – fourth day after Purnima. Vrata on Ganesha Sankatahara Chaturti begins at sunrise and ends after evening puja or after sighting the moon. Lord Ganesha Temples conduct special pujas on the day.
