Step by step over view of the process involved in the craftsmanship of a South Indian Bronze Idol work.
STEP 1
A Wax model is prepared

STEP2
Once the wax model is complete the front and the back of the mould is covered with clay and let to dry in sun. After the portion dries, the alternate portions of the idol is also treated in the same way.

STEP3
Now the mould is put in fire and once the process of heating the clay covering on both the side of the was model is done, it is removed. So the clay inner part of the mould will have an impression and can capture the exact model of the wax
STEP4
The five metals (Panchaloha) is been put in a heating container so that it melts. Then the container is taken out from the furnace and is carefully poured into the clay mould. This liquid is passed through a hole which was set at the time of clay covering
STEP5
Once the mold is cold, its broken (disassembled) and the panchaloha murti (idol) outline is seen
Now the unwanted waste is removed from the idol and it will look like this, with quite a good finish
STEP7
After engraving the final idol looks like this,
For manufacturing this 2 feet panchaloha panchamukhi Ganesha it takes around 2 months and 10 days. For each deity idol the time duration taken is different. It depends on the size and workmanship
