Chaturthi and Ganesha Puja as per Bhavishya Purana


Out of all the chaturthi’s, the one which falls during Shukla paksha, on a Thursday and during Pushya nakshatra is the best for Ganesh poojan.  Thus fasting on Chaturthi, next day offer sesame seeds to Brahmins and eat food made out of sesame seeds only. Repeat this whole procedure for two years in a row, as an effect of this great results will accrue in the form of wealth and one enjoys great deeds on moving to next realm. After enjoying there, one is born again on earth with beautiful body, great mind and intellect, every comfort, wife and children.

Chaturthi of Bhadrapad, in shukla paksh is called Shiva. Any bath, daan, japa, fasting done on this day bears fruit one hundred fold more than other days. Offerings to others on this day should made of Jaggery, Salt, Ghee etc. Offer puas (made out of wheat flour and jaggery) to Brahmins after performing their poojan.  If any women on this day offers puas made out of jaggery and offer it to her in-laws along with salty things gets great blessings of lord Ganesha.

Magh month, Shukla, Chaturthi is called Shanata. It provides Nitya Shanti (peace always). Any good deeds done on this day are multiplied thousand fold. One should fast on this day and then perform havan, offer salt, jaggery and Shaak to Brahmins in daan. Women especially should offer everything to their in-laws. Thus all the obstructions will be removed.

Chaturthi, Shukla paksh on a Tuesday  of any month is called Sukh. Fast on this day and then perform Ganesh poojan with red chandan, red flowers. It guards all our body organs and grants saubhagya and hence is called Angarak.
